Chapter 1: The Server in the Bunker
⟨Character 1⟩ lies on the concrete floor, gut-shot, his own boot keycap slick with Hitler’s blood. Hitler’s body is slumped over the map table, one arm hanging off the edge, the map still showing the eastern front. A young SS guard, trembling, stands over ⟨Character 1⟩.
Guard: Why? Why would you do this? You are not a German, you are not one of us. You walk in here with a sharpened keycap and you kill the Führer. Tell me why you threw your life away for people you do not know.
⟨Character 1⟩: Because the train is already past the border. I rerouted it from the switch house before I came here, and I waited until I heard the wheels change to the southern line. Your Reich can kill me now, but it cannot kill those people. They are gone, and I am only one body.
Guard: You fool. The party will find that train. We have stations, we have dogs, we have patience. You have thrown away your life for nothing, and the Jews will still die. The Reich does not lose.
⟨Character 1⟩: Look at the wall clock above the map table. Count with me. Three. Two. One. Just listen for what comes up the ventilation shaft, because I timed the rails and the border guards will not hear it from here. I have never counted with so much purpose.
⟨Character 1⟩: There. That whistle. You hear it? That is the sound of your failure crossing into Switzerland. The train is saved, and you cannot stop it now. I have never heard a better sound. Not in all my years.
Guard: Then die knowing your train will be found. We will make them pay for every drop of his blood. No one gets out. The party does not stop.
Chapter 2: The Switch
⟨Character 1⟩ sits in the dark, cursor blinking on a map of 1943 Berlin. He argues with a crackling radio broadcast of Hitler’s voice about a logical error. He packs a small bag: forged SS papers, a sharpened keycap, a cyanide capsule. He steps through the screen.
⟨Character 1⟩ lands in an alley. An SS officer demands papers. A Jewish woman is dragged from a line. ⟨Character 1⟩ tells the officer he needs to inspect the transport list. The officer lets him go with a warning.
Officer: Papers. Now. You are out after curfew, and you will explain why an unclean face walks near the deportation point. Keep your hands where I can see them.
⟨Character 1⟩: I am an efficiency inspector from the Reich Main Security Office. There is a scheduling bug in the transport list. I need to inspect the manifests, including the woman your men just took from the line.
Conductor: What are you doing at this switch? That line is set for the camp. Step away or I will shoot you where you stand.
⟨Character 1⟩: I am setting the line south. The train will cross into Switzerland and every Jew on it will be free. Your camp will be short one load.
Hitler: Who are you? You are not on my inspection roster. Explain why an ⟨birthplace⟩ face is in my private carriage, or I will have you shot against that wall.
⟨Character 1⟩: I am here to erase you. The train you are waiting for is already on the southern line, and every Jew on it will be past the border before your guards can blink. Listen for the whistle, because it will be the last thing you hear.
⟨Character 1⟩ steps behind Hitler, grabs a fistful of hair, and drives the sharpened keycap into the side of his throat. He pulls it free, stabs again, and Hitler slumps. The train whistle echoes up the shaft.
Rest now, ⟨Character 1⟩, Guard, Officer, and Conductor. You have done what was needed. Goodnight.
